Every time you visit a web site or access information on the internet, your computer temporarily stores, or caches, that page and its related information. On more advanced internet applications, your computer may also temporarily store secure files, user-specific data, or files that help the application run more efficiently.
Modern browsers regularly clear this cache to prevent internet web pages from conflicting with outdated data, but with some programs, or in the case of some errors, it may be necessary to clear the cache manually. Here's how you can do it on the most popular browsers.
Note: on all browsers, you can press "Ctrl" + "Shift" + "Del" to empty the browser cache.

Internet Explorer 8
- Click "Safety" in the menu bar, then "Delete Browsing History..."
- Click "Delete"
Internet Explorer 9
- Click the Gear in the upper right of the window.
- Select "Safety", then "Delete Browsing History...".
- Accept the defaults and click Delete.
Mozilla Firefox 3
- Select "Tools", then "Clear Recent History..." (you may have to right-click the top area and check "Menu Bar" for it to appear)
- Click "Clear Now".
Mozilla Firefox 4+
- Click on the orange Firefox title in the top left.
- Hover over History.
- Select Clear Recent History.
- Click "Clear Now"
- Click the Wrench in the upper right of the window.
- Select "Preferences", then "Under the hood", then "Clear Browsing History" at the top.
- Click "Delete".
- On the menu bar, select "Safari", then "Empty Cache"
- Click Empty.
